Lavishly modern four-day wedding in Western Crete Thea & Leandro
Four days of events, five different locations in Western Crete, four countries, two souls from diverse cultures that were about to begin their official unity among friends and relatives…
Thea & Leandro started almost one year and a half preparing their big celebration of love and commitment that took place in early June in Chania.
Four different events including two pre wedding parties, the wedding day itself and one post wedding brunch, constituted their wedding experience. Guests from Switzerland, Philippines, Greece, and Poland crossed their paths on the beautiful island of Crete surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea breathtaking scenery of vast olive groves and sandy beaches.
Thea and Leandro began their wedding fairytale on the first Tuesday noon of June, at a popular beach of Chania where they enjoyed the bright sky and the sea breeze of early summer in Crete. They tasted signature cocktails and delicious organic food from the Cretan buffet. A special highlight of this day was a small input from Leandro’s family. While the wedding planner took care of everything, Leandro’s mother, as the owner of an exotic hotel abroad, prepared and brought all the way from Philippines custom made T-shirts, hats, and tote bags, which depicted the lovely couple in romantic pictures.
Two days later, after giving their guests a chance to rest and elevating the atmosphere of wedding events, the second pre wedding party took place. Inspired by Greece and its “branding” colors of white and blue- Thea’s second home- at a traditional Cretan Estate long family style tables and elegant white chairs, with touch of blue glassware and wildflower arrangements, composed the party’s decoration. A core of decoration and party itself, was the bar set up – a mini pistachio colored van with a “waterfall” of florals. The sound of bouzouki and the excellent Greek cuisine buffet embraced the Greek vibe and the festive atmosphere of this al fresco dinner, among historical island buildings, under the sky of festoon lights.
As Saturday dawned, the couple’s big day arrived. They began early in the morning at their hotel in the Old Port of Chania, where the bride together with her bridesmaids were pampered by the beauty services professionals and the groom admiring the views of the Venetian Old Harbor’s Lighthouse was preparing with his best men.
The bride’s wedding gown by designer Rosa Clara was astonishing in its simplicity cherished by the piece of bridal blinks from “Les ambassadeurs”. Her low heel bridal shoes designed by Kate Spade couldn’t miss the accent of royal blue color and together with light olive-green bridesmaids’ dresses designed by Jacqueline Louise brought the harmony to the wedding day concept.
Leandro took care of his groom’s details wearing a chic dark green tuxedo by Loro Piana and Hugo Boss shoes standing out in a line with his best men dressed in classy summer light grey suits by Isaac Dewhirst.
At the ceremony place, with the breathtaking view to the north Cretan Sea, the preparations had already started for the early afternoon celebration. Transparent Victoria Queen style aisle chairs topped at entrance with white columns modern white floral compositions lead to the 2 circles of wedding arch – lavishly wrapped in white flowers touched by the bit of greenery.
Thea & Leandro exchanged their rings and vows among their favorite people with the sound of classical music by discrete string trio performance. Guests enjoyed signature Gin based cocktails, fresh Cretan style gelato and coffee before departing to the Toscany style Estate nestled among the White mountains and avocado groves.
Meticulously created, the atmosphere of the wedding dinner set up awaited under the twinkles of fairy lights installed in a carousel shape.
All in white and green tones, characteristic for the Mediterranean organic soul of Crete, reception area welcomed with its pure elegance of white centerpieces, crystal hearts shipped from groom’s family glass company in Switzerland, hand crafted wedding stationery and Greek wedding gifts of Jordan almonds.
The couple entered the party with firework fountains and welcomed 2 additional guests: a horse and the pony bringing the gift from their guests.
Handpicked cocktails, cigar bar and delicacies served by the gourmet island catering completed the musts of this elegant and organically rich wedding.
As if there was not enough to say goodbye, the day right after, the couple organized for their guests the last event of this magical June period. Hidden among Old Town of Chania seaside restaurants, Thea and Leandro together with most of their guests enjoyed a true Cretan buffet farewell brunch with a view to Chania Lighthouse. Specialties of Cretan and Greek cuisine such as dakos, Chania pies, apaki and dolmades were served accompanied by Greek coffee and a glass of Mimosa.
It was a true Cretan and Greek experience that Thea and Leandro requested!
From the sea to the country side, from the beach bar to the elegant venues hidden among Cretan landscape, that was everyone’s best event of the year!
